The goal of any software is to allow its users to accomplish tasks in a minimum amount of time, with optimal results. In addition to using a great software such as PEAKS, our users have found live webinars (WebExs) to be a very successful method of learning how best to utilize the given tools.

Currently, BSI offers both public and private meetings to accommodate general requests as well as specific cases. To deal with specific cases, as research material may be confidential, we recommend addressing these in a private meeting.

• In our public meetings, we go through PEAKS and explain how to use key tools, where they can be found, why they are used and what the results mean.
• Private meetings can be scheduled at various accommodating times, thus allowing all parties (you, us, and why not invite your lab-mates too?) to meet online and share each other's screens. This is a great resource for training new employees working with PEAKS, one on one with an expert, as well as resolving concerns.

De novo sequencing is a very popular application used within PEAKS; however, users of PEAKS sometimes don’t realize that they have at their disposal a highly sensitive and accurate database search engine (PEAKS DB), a sequence tag homology search tool (SPIDER), a multi-engine protein ID tool (inChorus) which allows multiple database search engines to combine their results automatically for increased coverage and confidence... as well as many more tools.
